This will be the final election forum before the May 5 election sponsored by Denver Decides, a longstanding partnership of the Denver League of Women Voters, Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation and Historic Denver. Its forums are produced and presented by Denver 8 TV. The partnership’s goal is to support accessible and transparent elections.
Denver Decides has launched an election website to aid voters as they select from the candidates seeking city office. DenverDecides.org hosts videos and campaign information of every candidate and presents video coverage from a series of community-based forums where candidates faced-off. The launch of www.DenverDecides.org provides valuable voter information ahead of ballots being delivered to Denver voters. (Ballots will be mailed during the week of April 13 for the all-mail election.) The website is organized by elected office and offers videos and voting information. The site’s launch culminates a substantive effort to offer all candidates free TV time and in organizing a series of candidate forums held throughout the Denver community.
Each candidate had the opportunity to record a two-minute direct pitch to Denver voters. These videos can be found organized on the Denver Decides website as well as regularly scheduled to play on Denver 8 TV at10:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. Additionally, Denver Decides invited candidates to a series of forums held in each contested Council District at which candidates faced each other and answered questions from the community. Each of the 15 forums was recorded for use on-demand at www.DenverDecides.org and on Denver 8 TV. The televised times can be found at www.DenverGov.org/Denver8TV.
It is likely that one or more of the contested elections (except Council-at-Large) will have a runoff election on June 2 if no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes. If that is the case, Denver Decides will have a forum for such race(s) during the week of May 11.
