Thank You Mary Myers!! Denver residents push city to take charge of needed sidewalk fixes
INC has long championed Denver’s sidewalk issues. As early as 2006 Delegate Mary Myers reported to INC that “Major issues with sidewalks include clarity and enforcement of regulations, installation and maintenance, and funding”. Because of her hard work INC adopted a Sidewalk Position statement in 2006. This position, which was later re-adopted in 2012, is in strong agreement with the direction laid out in the Pedestrian Master Plan.
In 2013 her work was honored as as part of the International Walk to School Day program at Univ. Park School. Mary and her Sidewalk Committee succeeded in getting many blocks of sidewalks installed near the school, so kids could walk safely.

Denver residents push city to take charge of needed sidewalk fixes
Some City Council members echo concerns that city should reconsider approach of taking a blind eye, leaving property owners responsible for sidewalks
What a great article. Thanks for sharing.
I’m on the Mayor’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee currently. I’ll be sure to bring up Mary Meyer and INC at our next meeting.
Clarification – the correct spelling is Mary Myer, and she passed away several years ago. She accomplished great things as chair of the University Park Sidewalk Committee, and set a high bar for effective neighborhood advocacy.
Thank you for noticing the error. It has be corrected. Mary accomplish many good things and we are all better for her
