Talk on Fire Adapted Community Preparedness
DENVER’S AUGUST 2013 “FACE 2 FACE” PROGRAM
Denver’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Denver CERT Program and ARES District supporting the City and County of Denver would like to invite you to participate in the August 27, 2013, “Face 2 Face” program.
Presenter: Lisa Mason, Outreach Forester for the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) since 2008. At the CSFS, she is the program lead for Fire Adapted Communities in Colorado which includes Colorado’s “Are You FireWise?” and “Are You Plans FireWise?” program, NFPA’s Firewise Communities/USA and community wildfire protection plans. Topic: The Record-Breaking 2012 Wildfire Season was responsible for the loss of lives and the destruction of more homes than in any other year. Fire adapted community education and technical assistance is essential in Colorado as more residents move into the WUI and are affected by wildfire. A Fire Adapted Community (FAC) takes responsibility for its own wildfire risk. The community should address resident safety, homes, neighborhoods, infrastructure, forests, and other community assets.
When: August 27, 2013, 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Where: Mile High Red Cross, 444 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203
