Mayor Hancock picks former councilman to oversee transformational projects in northeast Denver
by Adrian D. Garcia
Mayor Michael Hancock has already found someone to be the city’s new chief coordinator of the major redevelopment projects in River North, Globeville and Elyria-Swansea.
and from the Tribune
DENVER — Mayor Michael B. Hancock today named Timothy Sandos as the new Executive Director of the North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative (NDCC). Sandos will provide general oversight, planning, strategic coordination, financing and implementation of six primary projects under the umbrella of the NDCC, including management of city staff assigned to the collaborative.
This case is premised around the alleged construction of an “industrial-level stormwater management project in designated parkland,” specifically Denver’s City Park Golf Course (“CPGC”). Compl. ¶1. Macfarlane argues that such management project (the “Project”) is “designed specifically to protect a highly-controversial federal highway project and other new construction.”
Macfarlane asserts that the Project: 1) violates Denver’s zoning code; 2) violates Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation (“DPR”) charge of the Denver City Charter; 3) without popular vote, would violate usage restrictions; and 4) is contrary to caselaw interpreting similar dispositions of parkland.

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your continuing support of Friends of Denver Parks and efforts to protect open space in Denver.
Attached is a copy of the brief that Evans Case LLP filed for plaintiffs-appellants in the Colorado Court of Appeals on February 4, 2015. We are asking the court to reverse the decision of Judge Stern so that, in accordance with Charter Section 2.4.5, the people of Denver may vote on the issue of whether 11 acres of park land should be traded to DPS for use as a school. We filed a lis pendens on the property in 2013 before the City conveyed it to DPS, so our interests are protected until all appeals are exhausted.
