Maggie reported that there will be a community forum updating the Park Hill Golf Course situation on Sat., March 10 at Park Hill Congregational Church. 2600 Leyden St. from 1:00-3:00 p.m. A panel of speakers will talk about options. That morning at the same place, INC will hold its March meeting, with elections, and focused on a fair and balanced discussion of a Colorado Olympics bid.
INC met January 13 at Denver’s District 3 Police Station. An SRO crowd heard from Councilperson Paul Kashmann, Denver’s new Neighborhood Liaison and a special program from the representatives of Denver Road Home and Denver Homeless Out Loud, as well as reports from INC committees and a number of delegates who had RNO updates. [No voting matters at this meeting occurred.] President George Mayl opened the meeting with a welcome, and circulated a card of congratulations (to be signed by attendees) to longtime INC delegate and leader, Katie Fisher, who had just retired from 40 years on staff at Iliff School of Theology.
As the Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation is the preeminent citizen/neighborhood organization representing a majority of Denver citizens, we feel our representation is rightfully recommended. Transparency is the hallmark of all good government.
Councilman Kashmann reported that traffic and especially speeding traffic is a major concern brought to him, so he has created a new sign for neighborhood streets that says “Drive 25 – It Won’t Kill You ! Slow Down !” He said Housing and Homelessness are complex problems that will take the commitment of the city. The homeless need a strong voice..
Liaison to the Mayor’s office, Grace Lopez-Ramirez, added that the Mayor wants to know what is going on in the neighborhoods. Please advise him.
Hilary Lenz, Program Director at A Little Help, discussed her non-profit group which connects seniors to neighborhood volunteers. A Little Help is “Connecting Neighbors to Help Seniors Thrive.” Volunteers can be matched with seniors, providing resources such as giving seniors rides to the pharmacy, shoveling snow, performing chores and handy help, teaching technology, running general errands, and performing home health care.
NC Dinner
Jane provided update on the dinner. There is a four-person co-chair committee: Jane, George, JJ, and Samantha. Samantha will manage volunteers, take reservations, and make badges. JJ is working on invitations / announcements. George and JJ will work on program. Ean will assist with putting the program handout together. Jane is working on budget, nominations, and other loose ends.
Double Tree venue is reserved for 31 January.

PARC said it has long been asking for Denver Parks and Rec numbers regarding costs and income from park use. PARC also is interested in the taking of park property for other uses. O’Brien indicates this accounting is improving, but still problematic. Every city contract includes the requirement of an audit by the City Auditor. PARC emphasized the need of returning park zoning to a form that requires vote of City Council (citizens’ elected channel) for use changes. Mr. O’Brien said that some City Councilpersons are in close contact with his office for information, and all are welcome.
