INC’s current investment CD expires September 15. Steve proposed INC renew the CD and increase it from $12,000 to $25,000. NEW Flexible 15-month CD will have interest rate of 2.03%. During the first 7 months can withdraw without penalty. Final 8 months can continue, increase or decrease the amount of the CD.
(ACTION) It was moved by Steve to renew CD at $25,000 seconded by Bridget. Motion Carried.
Minutes
– In the August minutes the names of Joel, Drew and Cindy were misspelled.
– Joel corrected that the bond funding categorization was not an action item, just a discussion.
– Minutes need to include names of board members absent.
(ACTION) It was moved by Maggie and seconded by Bridget to approve minutes of the
August 6 Executive Committee with corrections. Motion carried unanimously.
Committees
Parks & Rec Maggie – Nothing to the report in addition to what was presented at the Delegate meeting this past Saturday. P&R did not meet last month; next meeting is September 18, 6pm at Brookdale.
Transportation Joel – Next meeting is Thursday (September 13) at 1201 Williams, 6-8 pm. Co-Chair Geneva Hooten will step down this year and this will be her final meeting. They are looking for a co-chair.
Zoning – Ean searching for location for a design meeting on September 29 for 300 people. Part of the program will be by a CU Professor of Design 101 explaining Grad School projects.
Budget Greg requested 2019 budgets from each committee chair by the October 8th Executive Committee meeting.
Sustainability. Cindy told about the tour to the Panasonic smart cities project. They are a subsidiary of Panasonic Japan developing cell towers containing smart infrastructure pieces, including interesting light pole design that reports on air quality, traffic etc. About 10-12 people attended the tour organized by Ernie .
The Sustainability Committee will put on events to benefit neighborhoods letting neighborhoods share good ideas/practices.
Certifiable Green Businesses needs to be easier for businesses as current standards are very tough to meet. INC could host a seminar for businesses on Certification.
Denveright -Public comment needs to be back by October 31. INC members are concerned that there has not been enough communication out to the community for substantial feedback. There will be an office hours meeting in City County building for RNO’s, 3pm, Sept 11. More meetings are scheduled on other days/ locations but at 3pm. Notification went only to tall Denver RNO’s. INC will request that notice go out to all neighborhoods, be held in the evenings or on weekends when more people can attend, and provide more time. (There is a video of first presentation on INC website.)
– Most people will not read the 700pg document in order to make comments. Need someone to provide a synopsis for easier review.
– INC would like to know the feedback of other nonprofits such as Walk Denver, bicycle groups, Denver streets partnerships, transportation groups, etc.
– Each INC committee should use its platforms to see where the plan meets or misses determined goals.
– The words water, climate change and sustainability are seldom seen in the document a concern that these issues will not be properly included.
– The document calls for lots of studies.
INC meetings do not have the time needed to give to all of these studies. Can only give segments – and in emails. Need to really limit time given to each issue.
Annual Dinner Jane – The committee recommended giving four $500 youth scholarships at each yearly dinner. Ean suggested making the donations to specific organizations that emphasize youth civic education to make more of an impact on the community and INC’s role. Several groups are out there. Members are to bring suggestions of organizations at next months meeting.
Items for the Silent Auction will be grouped into neighborhoods, gift cards etc.
Rebranding – Steve and George Over 200,000 homes and 85 neighborhoods yet many including city employees do not know about INC. Need to tell the stories of what INC has accomplished.
Ideas? Perhaps more social media. Does INC need a publicist? If INC is well branded/well known it could also help neighborhoods. Cactus woman doubled sale of succulents. Jade has a nonprofit marketing company for Taxi, created Ditch the Ditch. Use a Nextdoor chain asking individuals to get the word out.
Denver Decides
Denver Decides is finalizing details of the ballot before final program can be determined.
Adjourn 8:30pm
