Presidents Message March 29 2016
Hello my fellow neighborhood and civic leaders and welcome to the new year of the Denver Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation.
At our annual meeting, the delegation elected three new delegates at large, a new secretary, and a new president. We had two position statements passed regarding; the Short Term Rental legislation that is being formulated in the city council, and the drainage plan for the Montclair and Park Hill basins, that is being proposed by city.
See our denverinc.org website for the final language of these and other resolutions that we have passed.
For our first INC delegate’s meeting of the New Year, we will be gathering at the Southwest
Improvement Council (http://swic-denver.org/) to certify the election, start the process for appointing three new members of the board of directors, revisit our homelessness resolution, and engage our delegation in identifying projects and goals for our new year.
In my presentation for the INC presidential nomination, I laid out some guiding principles that I hope you will join me in holding during the coming year. Let us put effort into achieving balance in our approach to engaging with the city. We will expand our INC community by engaging more RNOs and empowering them to improve their neighborhood impact. Our new board of directors will also solidify the operations of the INC to achieve a lasting and inheritable foundation for INC that will sustain our legacy and allow us to continue to improve how we, as an organization, engage with the RNOs of Denver to actively address City neighborhood issues. We can and will diversify our organization while we create
the kind of communication avenues that will allow the city to better communicate information to us and receive input from us.
INC currently has 85 RNO member organizations and 26 associate members. Total membership income to date represents a 61% increase over the same period last year. We have a great opportunity to grow upon our accomplishments from 2015. Please join me, and the rest of the executive committee, as we start the next chapter of INC together.
Wow! What a surprise to see that i”m still listed as INC’s registered agent after all these years. I guess the document needs some updating. By the way, my address at that time was 1240 not 1420 Pearl.
Good luck in the year INC year.
Bernie
All that’s changing soon, but thanks for founding this great organization.
