Message From The President Dec 2017
Message from the President
The holidays are a time for giving and a time for sharing. They are such an important time for Denver registered neighborhood organizations because they help us solidify our bonds of friendship and keep us going in these cold, dark months. The potlucks we organize and the people we share the season with are those who will sustain us and help us the rest of the year. I hope your holidays were warm and well-attended.
To start the new year, please join us for our next delegate meeting (Saturday, January 14th) in NE Denver (Stapleton Neighborhood) @ the Community HUB of Northfield. We will feature a three-person panel discussion on concrete tips for how to engage our diverse communities in our registered neighborhood organizations. 2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year and I hope that you are all excited for it. Come join us and share your ideas for increasing participation in registered neighborhood organizations in 2017.
The other big INC event in January is the INC annual Neighborhood Awards Dinner. The date is coming quickly (January 31, 2017). Look for your invitation in your e-mail (from DenverInc@blacktie-colorado.com).
As always, we are inviting the presidents from all of the city’s RNOs, along with all INC delegates and their partners, city staff, and city representatives to come share a provided meal and some entertainment. With the generosity of our presenting sponsor, Visit Denver, and other great sponsors, we have the opportunity to gather with other neighborhood advocates to recognize and honor those who have contributed to and improved our Denver community and neighborhoods. I hope you will join me in nominating Neighborhood Stars and celebrating in the successes of registered neighborhood organizations from around the city. We are having a “Roaring 20’s” theme, so if you want to join me in wearing a vintage pin stripe or zoot suit, give El Guapo Tuxedo (elguapotuxedo.com) a call and tell Tony, my fellow ’97 North High graduate, that I sent you. Let’s look sharp and have some fun in 2017.
Be sure to nominate your choices for Neighborhood Awards this year. One of the most positive and effective ways that we can advocate for our neighborhoods and improve our communities is by supporting our neighbors who take it upon themselves to go above and beyond for their fellow residents and our city. Support those who make a difference in your neighborhood by nominating them for an INC Neighborhood Award. Awards are presented in different categories and can be found on our website (www.denverinc.org). Please take the time to submit your nomination online, e-mail it to awardnominations@denverinc.org, or send it as a letter to our P.O. Box. The deadline is January 8.
Take care and Happy New Year.
