LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings Denverites:
It appears we may be having our long overdue elections in the month of July! Positions up for election in 2020 are: INC President, Secretary and three (3) open seats for Delegates-at-Large. Anyone interested in running for office, please notify me by Email at: president@denverinc.org.
Submitting your name for a position in advance is a board agreed action for 2020. As per our Bylaws, “nominations shall be made from the floor at the annual meeting unless otherwise directed by the Board.” Please see INC Bylaws for more details.
Alternatives Being Worked Out for Election: Due to the pandemic, INC’s Board of Directors will institute the necessary safety requirements needed for everyone’s protection. To that end, we are working out details to hold elections electronically should we not be able to meet in an open area allowing for adequate separation.
Only a delegate of record at time of election shall be eligible to serve as an officer
ARTICLE XIII- ELECTIONS
B. Elections
- Elections shall be by ballot, voice, roll call, hand vote or acclamation.
- A majority of votes cast is required to elect officers.
- Election of officers shall take place in the following order: president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and delegates-at-large.
- Each office shall be voted upon prior to electing subsequent offices
- The nominee(s) receiving the highest number of votes for delegate-at-large shall be declared as elected.
Your Education Committee Chair, Amy Duclos, has been extremely busy looking at aspects of the Denver Public School finances. It appears they are looking at from $19 MIL-$61 MIL in budget cuts for next year. I encourage all Denver citizens to become familiar with our school system financing. Please go to our www.denverinc.org website and under: SEARCH OUR SITE, type in DPS Spending.
It’s your city, get involved.
