Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Celebrates 40 Years
1975-2015
As 2015 comes to a close, Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation (INC) acknowledges a long journey of forty years on the road of addressing neighborhood concerns citywide.
In 1975 a group of activists from several neighborhood organizations realized that neighborhood issues were of similar concern across the city. A meeting was held to establish a cooperation of these groups and thus, Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation was born.
Membership in INC has grown from a few RNOs in the beginning to over one hundred at various times. Nineteen volunteer Chairs have led the organization over those years. The first board of directors consisted of four members and has since grown to nine members today.
Hundreds of volunteers have committed thousands of volunteer hours to address the concerns of neighbors. Concerned citizens have dedicated immeasurable effort as they have united and served on committees addressing zoning, parks and recreation, transportation, public safety and education. These selfless sacrifices of time without compensation, have raised awareness among citizens and have often resulted in positive changes for our communities.
INC remains strong today and continues to welcome challenges that may need to be addressed in order to create improved quality of life for all citizens. We are proud to partner with city leadership in bringing about realistic solutions to issues of all nature.

Steve, It took a lot more than one meeting. We wrangled for a while.
