INC’s Charitable Works
In the past, INC supported the Dollar Dictionary Program which ended in 2015 due to the growth of technology use in schools. INC believes partnering with neighborhoods in Denver is important not only as related to advocacy issues but also as related to community giving. The committee’s primary goal is to create a program grounded in community charitable works which is neighborhood-based and which can be responsive to the wide range of needs and concerns of Denver’s many diverse neighborhoods
On-Going
INC’s Zoning & Planning Committee will continue their monthly collections for the food bank at South West Improvement Council (Westwood Neighborhood), and each time we meet there we will request that attendees bring non-perishable, unexpired food items for this food bank.
Delegate Meetings
While it would be noble to collect something at every delegate meeting, we felt this might wear thin, so we have outlined three collection drives and an opportunity for a non-profit group to come in to explain their program and sell products.
June – A toiletries drive to benefit The Gathering Place, a day shelter for women in Denver that also has a day care center. They serve meals, provide showers, and job development help. Benefits homeless women and children.
August – School supplies drive to be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver which distributes to all of Denver’s neighborhoods.
October – Presentation from Women’s Bean Project – Products will be available for purchase that benefit that organization.
November – Sock drive for Urban Peak – homeless teens in Denver and/or Denver Rescue Mission – homeless men.
