INC RESOLUTION FOR TIME EXTENSION REGARDING DENVERIGHT
This resolution will be presented at the Nov 10 2018 Delegate meeting
INC RESOLUTION REQUESTING EXTENDING TIME FOR PUBLIC STUDY AND COMMENT ON THE DENVER COMPREHENSIVE PLAN/DENVERIGHT PROCESS
Whereas, although, there has been an extensive and lengthy 2 year process embodying aspirational goals, it is a lengthy and complex document the existence and details of which are likewise unknown to the vast majority of Denver residents and voters, and
Whereas, there is no strategy to address the health and environmental impact on Denver and its residents stemming from the perceived growth, and
Whereas, most residents of Denver will not have the opportunity to review, understand and comment on the contents of this lengthy and complex document without the benefit of an extension of at least 4 months additional time, and
Whereas, the importance of a comprehensive plan to the city of Denver and its residents is of overwhelming importance and will impact future development of the City for many decades, any deadlines for review and adoption should be viewed as arbitrary, and
Whereas, none of the principles, goals, and policies recommended in the current document, even if adopted will have legal standing or be binding upon future planners and elected officials, and
Whereas, in the comprehensive plan, land use, parks, recreation and transportation must be more clearly and definitively integrated in a more efficient less burdensome manner,
Now therefore, does the Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Zoning and Planning Committee recommend to the INC membership that a 4 month extension of time to February 18, 2019 be requested to the Administration of Mayor Michael B. Hancock, for further study and comment on the set of comprehensive planning documents known as Denveright
