INC Executive Committee Meeting November 12, 2018
Board Members Present: George Mayl, Loretta Koehler, Bridget Walsh, Maggie Price, Steve Nissen, Hank Bootz, Ernie Diedrich, Jane Potts. (quorum)
Board Members Absent: Drew Dutcher
Committee Chairs Present: Greg Sorenson, Joel Noble
The meeting was called to order at 6:33pm by President George Mayl.
Minutes
(ACTION) It was moved by Hank and seconded by Bridget to approve the minutes of the
October Executive Committee meeting with corrections. Motion carried.
The Chair George Mayl apologized that he did not take control at last months’ meeting letting a discussion get out of hand and said it will not happen again.
Treasurers Report – Steve
$25,000 in CD should bring in $500 interest.
Savings $,6800
Checking $5,000 37,000 total
SWIC check cleared, but not the one from Park Hill Congregational Church.
(ACTION) It was moved by Ernie and seconded by Hank to approve the October Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
Old Business
– Hank – There have been no requests from neighborhood groups for a INC grant.
He will reintroduce at the Dinner.
– Bridget – CPFANS will host a Holiday Gathering on Dec 15 – at CHUN 6-8pm
– George – Announce that RNO’s can sponsor a Delegate meeting in your neighborhood.
– Loretto Heights was being considered as a Delegate Meeting site. Again they want INC to pay insurance as we did for the workshop. INC will not do that again. Will try to schedule a Loretto Heights presentation at another meeting perhaps in SW Denver.
2019 Annual Awards Dinner – Jane
–Sponsorships are coming in from Denver Health, Denver Water, Convention Center, Xcel, Burlington Northern and Zeppelin
– A reminder to have the credit card squares set up early with the list of items
– A reminder to invite to police and safety –
– Remember it’s an awards ceremony
Proposed Budget Draft – Greg
All board members received a copy of the draft budget. Chairs were asked to submit the amount needed for that committee. After tonight’s meeting Greg will revise according to discussion, which included:
– Pay pal fees are directly subtracted from charge
– $500 allocated for staff, only spent $100
– Suggest staff budgeted at $1200
– Do we want to pay approximately $200 month for publicity totaling $2400
– Do we need to market to our potential members?
– George “Cindy had mentioned hiring Jade who coordinated for Ditch the Ditch
– Add $1000 for Sustainability Committee-
– Added $2000 Youth Group Awards
– With a Total of $37,000 there is a shortfall of $3000
– Need to ask RNO’s pay for food when hosting in their neighborhood
Transportation – Joel
Looking at 3 transit related RTD changes next year:
1) On line
2) Chariot pilot – Cherry Creek to Downtown loop – targeting employers to subsidize and offering first-year pricing of $175 for a household
3) January 10 – 5 regional planners workshop of all plans and needs
– Denver Moves considering Washington/Clarkson Streets – separated bike lane
Sustainability – Ernie
Planning 3 Things: 1) Field trips 2) neighborhood project focus 3) big topic meeting
January will hold Big Topic discussion on eliminating plastic water bottles and the need for satellites for waste deposits.
Parks & Rec – Maggie
Last meeting had a speaker from Public Works present on sidewalks in parks. They are proposing new parks configurations with lots of concrete for skateboard parks and more. INC will to advocate for less cement in parks
New Business
A request letter from Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action for $1200. They helped with the INC workshop. George will review and consider. They came to us in April 2017 – supporting Park Hill Golf Course – no interaction after that.
2019 City Elections
– INC budgeted $600 for the League of Women Voters Mayoral/Candidate Forums
– Suggest asking Candidates to answer questionnaire for the INC Website. It worked
well for the general election.
– Invite Candidates to the January meeting allowing one question from each of the INC Committees
