October 12, 2019
Executive Board Present: George Mayl, Loretta Koehler, Steve Nissen, Joel Noble, Maggie Price, Hank Bootz, Jane Potts.
The Meeting was called to order at 9:00am by President George Mayl.
Minutes – It was moved by Tom Mobley and seconded by Bob Loranz to approve minutes of the September 14 minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
Welcome by Rick Ninneman, Director of Corporate Work Study Program at Arrupe Jesuit High School
- All students participate in work-study, all are college bound
Welcome by Amanda Sandoval, Councilwoman, District One
- Please us the 311 System. She knows it is flawed but it is the only way to get the process going. If you do not hear back contact her office and you will have a tracking # they can use to follow up.
- Her NW District is greatly impacted by the Group Living Ordinance as the old zoning code determines the number of beds at half-way, or group homes located here cannot expand until zoning is changed.
PROGRAM
Eulois Cleckley, Executive Director of Public Works
- Measure 2A will create Dept of Transportation and Infrastructure a combination of Pubic Works and a new Transportation component
- To address fact that 69% of vehicles are single occupancy
- New In Charter: 1) Plan, Design, Build for non-motorized safety needs 2) Plan, Design, Build and operate transit facilities with RTD 3) Safety First = Vision Zero
- “Imagine RTD Renewed”
- Please use 311 System. Just hired new customer service representative.
PARK & REC – Maggie Price
Next meeting October 15 at Brookdale, 6pm. City Forester will give program on Emerald Ash and Tom Morris will discuss process to move administration of P/R back under ruling of City Council.
TRANSPORTATION – Joel Noble. Next meeting November 14 at 1201 Williams, 6-8pm. Focus on Vision Zero to develop an action plan with small interventions to slow traffic. Beginning process to redo the Transportation Platform as half of current platform has been achieved.
AWARDS DINNER – Jane Potts
A reminder first – INC has Grants for Neighborhood Projects and for Youth Civic Engagement activities. See the details on denverincl.org. The 2020 Annual Dinner will be on February 12 at the Holiday Inn Cherry Creek. Please reflect on this past year as to who you would nominate for a Neighborhood Star Award.
ZONING & PLANNING – Christine O’Connor. Next meeting October 26, 1201 Williams, 9:30am. 1) Focus on Metro Districts. 2) Andrew Webb, Senior City Planner will speak on Group Living Housing Advisory Committee. 3) Common Consumption Areas and Entertainment Districts 4) Open Space & Parks
VOTER FORUMS Together with League of Women Voters, INC hosted forums on Proposition CC and Proposition DD that were videotaped by Denver Channel 8 for “Denver Decides”. These forums will be broadcast on Channel 8 the next few weeks leading up to the General Election on November 5th.
