Parks & Rec Committee Report
With new council appointments, Parks and Rec Advisory Board is looking very different in the future
Scott Gilmore will transition duties to Happy Haynes
The Hentzel Park court case was decided for the City by the Court of Appeals
The Zoo project
City Council still has questions and may move forward with a review of the project.
In 2010 the zoning review process was changed and this change allowed a much less public process to occur.
The big question is should this industrial use be allowed in a park.
The city is unclear because the Zoo is not providing information.
The City Website is being redone so there is problems with posting minutes, videos, and other information. Most of the information is not currently available.
Tuesday is the PARC meeting (6pm)
Recycled water use on park trees vote will be taken.
The salinity of the water is being studied for causing trees to die.
PARC and ZAP are showing there may be gaps in the new zoning code regarding city forester regulations.
A new rule being proposed may allowing the city to ban people from parts of a park
Trying to address the drug dealing and violence in parks.
The new East side Rec Center is going to be named after Carla Madison

Denver Decides will host 2 forums on Oct 7th & 8th
Oct 8th – will discuss the 4 ballots measures
They will also be discussed at the next INC Delegate meeting
ZAP
Resolution regarding online voting has been tabled until next month
Excise & License is interested in having evening hearings
Citizens Academy will occur in the next month
The hearings don’t seem to be following procedures and are very detrimental to the neighborhood organizations and representatives.
An INC group is gathering over the next 2 weeks to review and help form the new evening hearing rules
3 sessions for 30 people. 15 are INC members
Will build knowledge and interaction
Will have Robin Kniech, Albus Brooks, and Mayor’s office
Next Meeting – Focused on Landmark Designation
Check your good neighbor agreements to make sure your “restrictions” remain in place.
Transportation
Met on Thursday – Tuk Tuk will start operating in Denver (see minutes for more info on eTuk)
Vision Zero (Safety Program) – Successes are happening throughout major US cities
Pavement and street conditions were discussed. Please use 311 to report potholes.
95% of 311 reported holes are filled within 48 hrs.
Transportation Platform

Follows structure of the ZAP platform
Executive Committee submitted their concerns and the platform was revised
