The entire board of Mayfair Neighbors, Inc., a Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) in Denver, proudly nominates Leslie (Les) Reingold for a 2023 Neighborhood Star Award. Les has been an integral part of Mayfair Board and other neighborhood activities for many years. As a long-time Board member, she has assumed numerous duties and responsibilities, including serving as Vice President and Secretary, recently holding both offices concurrently. Besides assuming formal positions, Les has also gone beyond the call of duty in taking on all of those behind-the-scenes tasks that are necessary for the success of any organization.
Les is one of the few Mayfair Board members to volunteer for and participate in every neighborhood event organized and put on by our RNO. She has a keen sense of what needs to be done and goes about getting things done without fanfare or wish for recognition of her efforts. Her attention to detail and ability to offer a suggestive nudge allows her to help organize without drama. Whether it is helping with early set-up for the Egg Hunt or picking up trash the morning after the annual Concert in Mayfair Park, she is always willingly on hand to help. She sees the big picture of event organization and uses her considerable skills at communicating how things should be done without coming across as “in charge.”
Les served as Vice President and as Secretary Mayfair’s RNO and has taken on other roles of equal importance to the neighborhood. Critically, she took on the role of Membership Chairman, using her organizational skills to keep the membership lists and dues payments continually updated. She also assumed responsibility for the advertising and production aspects of the Mayfair Mirror, the quarterly newsletter published by Mayfair Neighbors, Inc. In doing so she cultivated relationships with existing and potential new advertisers. Importantly, she was quite effective at collecting critical revenue promised by advertisers.
Due to changing life circumstances, and much to our dismay, Les has recently had to resign her positions with the Mayfair Neighbors Board. We will miss her kind and spirited approach to helping the neighborhood, and especially her positive and fun presence. We trust that she will keep up with neighborhood activities and friends and that she will continue to help out as she can. She leaves big shoes to fill.
