Sustainability Committee
President Mayl appointed Ernie Dietrich as Chair of this new committee at the July meeting as Ernie has experience with this issue. Denver City Now could give a tour lead AP Jerry Tinianow, who held great sustainability conference. Suggest that sustainability groups in neighborhoods work together including a tour in Highlands.
If we want others to come into this need to keep it simple and be open focusing on the fundamental topics – awareness of plastic, discussion on environment, soil, pollution, carbon footprint. Little things people can do themselves.
Parks & Rec – Maggie
Park Hill and Fairfax will present the swap at City Hall 10:30 tomorrow. They will not allow public comment but paper signs are ok.
Cindy and Maggie will be there.
High water use on golf courses (Reuters) can be confronted with the fact the park serves as the last open space habitat for animals. Municipal courses are diverse being open to all. 50,000 rounds a year at Park Hill and over 60,000 at City Park.
Transportation – Joel
Met in July, next meeting in September.
Plan to go through the Denveright Plans point by point with transit plan according to their platform. Evaluate that analysis.
Walk Denver made a presentation on their goals. Best estimate to get there would take $40M annually.
Curtis Park 150th Anniversary at Mestizo Festival this Saturday.
Drew asked if when the Denverright plan is released by city could if it be an INC discussion at a Delegate meeting, maybe in September before City County meets on this. In September give an overview delegates could take back to neighborhoods. If so invite City staff so people can ask questions. September INC will be at Cook Park Rec Center.

What is Consensus?
Cindy suggested a consideration for an addition to the board standing rules that would be a guide for the board in making decisions through consensus. Prior to the Executive Committee meeting Cindy emailed committee members an article by Julie Garland McLellen “A Vote for Consensus” to read and consider for addition to the standing rules.
After committee discussion Cindy withdrew the suggested guide for decision making for the standing rules.
At this time the committee was reminded by the Chair that discussion of sensitive topics is not to be emailed to those not on the board.
New Business
Saturday – Park Hill 28th and Fairfax land swap. Privatization of Public Parks
Reviving Previous Committees Cindy asked if there a need to revived the Safety and Education committees? History indicates there is not a structure in neighborhood RNO’s to address these committees.
Why would INC want to take these on when DPS and the City is currently promoting strong programs in these areas?
Aubry Lavizzo is involved with and regularly attends City Safety meetings, perhaps he could make a monthly report.
INC has an attorney to meet with Margie and Loretta who will do pro bono work to review each subject matter.
