Denver INC Executive Committee Minutes- July 13, 2015
Attendance: Larry Ambrose, JJ Niemann, Don Tressler, Bibi Alexander, Margie Valdez, Joel Nobel, John Riecke, Steve Nissen, Katie Fisher, Maggie Price, Meg Schomp, Dave Stauffer
The meeting was called to order by INC President, Larry Ambrose at 6:38 p.m. at the Daniels Fund Building. The minutes of the June 8th EC Meeting were approved by acclamation.
Bibi presented the Financial Report: June 30 Balance
CoD: 12200.32
Savings: 14519.30
Charity: 1928.53
Checking: 3127.59
Total: $31775.74
Bibi reported to the Executive Committee that she had received receipt for reimbursement from
a Board member a food expense and wasn’t sure if she should pay it. Larry explained that this
was not a precedent and that the Board has approved a budget for this type of expense.
Quarterly Budget Report – John Riecke
33% of the money budgeted has been spent.
Liability Insurance: Do we still need to pay this for 2015?
Materials: Budget has been spent
Communications: $1800 will probably not be used (no printing of newsletter)
Awards Dinner: Money has been left over from last year.
Meetings: Have spent almost none of the money
Membership Development: $550 budgeted – Untouched.
Board Travel & Entertainment: Unspent as of today
Candidate Forums & Sponsorships: Budget $500 – ½ of money has been spent.
Do we want to move it to next year?
What do we want to spend it on?
Other half will be spent leading up to Nov.
Has the League of Women Voters asked for payment of expenses?
Bottom Line: There is Budget that can and should be used in the coming months.
Membership and Renewals Report
Ideas for next year:
Send out a card that says “Thank you” and reminds them to become a member for the next year.
Present future oriented reasons for becoming RNO members
Stay neutral but focus on education and information that we are doing it.
Create a digital flyer (hire someone)
Include recognition and appreciation to those who have contributed, future oriented content
Membership Committee is now Luchia Brown, Jane Potts, and JJ Niemann
Contacting RNOs in City Council Districts

■ JJ – 1, 2, 4, 5, 8
There are some huge ballot measures coming up in November
We want many RNOs behind us
Warm Cookies of the Revolution
Evan attended the recent delegate meeting
Will become an affiliate member (They have members)
This organization has events around having fun events that promote civic engagement
They are creative and an out-of-the-box thinking organization
Big Issue – Social Impact Bonds (New Idea for the City)
How can we support them and how can they support us?
Do they want us to do more than just bring people to their events?
Do we want to contribute money?
Action Item: Dave will find out more and push out the information to the INC EC & Committee Chairs
Swearing in ceremony
We Are Denver Coalition – Larry reported that INC had been asked to participate.
INC will provide this information to our delegation to help with participation
Action Item: Margie will write a letter that we can send to the new city council members, welcoming them
Action Item: Dave will post this information on our website and in our Facebook page
Fracking
Larry reported on fracking in far NE Denver. Other areas are also being affected because the companies can drill sideways
SW Denver could be affected through the contamination of groundwater in the Platte River Basin
The Governor is stopping localities from banning Fracking
Diana Degette
Would like to have us host a meeting for her to connect with RNOs.
Send out an announcement to ask more than just Delegate RNOs to attend
Have her come to a Delegate meeting (September?)
Have a co-sponsored breakfast
Larry will contact her office and work it out
Future Delegate Meetings
Do we want to have an education focused theme for our November meeting?
Transportation Committee would like to be part of the August Delegate Meeting agenda to present the new INC Transportation Committee platform.
Denver Health is confirmed for our meeting in August
The action outside a meeting will be brought to a vote
Citizens Academy
Location: Blair-Caldwell Academy
Kyle Dalton will speak
Joel will speak on small neighborhood plan
July 21st invites/applications go out
Aug 14th is deadline for applications
Councilman Albus Brooks will greet
Mayor will give out diplomas at conclusion
Zoning issues and Excise & License will be independent issues
Parks & Rec
Brad Cameron has asked us to move more quickly on asking the city to move more quickly on Park Designation.
Denver Zoo Gasification Incinerator – The Zoo has not been forthcoming in sharing information on it.

INC PARC Resolution will be to ask the city council to have hearings on it
Will take to the Delegate meeting and have a presentation in August
