Meet Denver’s district attorney candidates
The office has been spotlighted – by reporters and by a judge – for its failure to prosecute law enforcement officers for excessive force. As police brutality, racial profiling, the death penalty and wrongful convictions hit headlines, the public’s concern about who’s running for district attorney has grown.
The Colorado Independent will be hosting the first Denver District Attorney forum the evening of October 20th at Denver Open Media, 700 Kalamath, in Studio A. The conversation will be hosted by Colorado Independent Editor Susan Greene, who for years has investigated the D.A.’s office and criminal justice in Denver.
Three of the candidates — Beth McCann, Kenneth Boyd and Michael Carrigan — have agreed to participate. There will be a reception upstairs from 6:30 to 7. Seating will take place at 7 and the discussion will begin shortly after.
There are a limited number of seats that will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Audience members will have a chance to ask the candidates questions.
For those interested but unable to attend, the video of the forum will be available here on The Colorado Independent website, www.coloradoindependent.com, the following days and also will be broadcast on Channel 56.
