Dictionary Packing Help Needed
Volunteers are needed to help pack dictionaries for Denver’s third graders on Wednesday, August 20 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church located at 915 East 9th Ave Denver, CO 80218. 9am to 5pm.
Lunch is provided to the packer volunteers. Tasks: placing labels in books, loading books to boxes, and whoever can help – stacking boxes to pallets. DPS picks up the books for distribution in September.
For the past 18 years, Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation (Denver INC) has sponsored the Dollar Dictionary Drive. The program places a comprehensive, age-appropriate dictionary into the hands of every third grade student enrolled in Denver Public Schools – charters included. This year, well-over 7,000 books will be placed. Even in this high-tech era, the books have been deemed “valuable” by the teachers and the students. Each student is given a personal copy to keep. Teachers use the books as a teaching tool for English language development and literacy improvement.
