National Energy Action – MLK Day
GROUNDWORK DENVER –NATIONAL ENERGY ACTION EVENT
The first national day of service of the New Year, MLK Day, is fast approaching! It falls on Monday January 20th 2014 and Groundwork Denver is organizing our 4th annual MLK Day Neighborhood Energy Action event. Time from 1pm to 430pm – training offered at 1pm.
This year’s event will take place in the Clayton neighborhood of Denver. If you’ve participated in this event in the past then you know the kind of positive impact this project can have on a neighborhood as a whole and on individual residents.
The Work: In pairs (or groups of three depending on circumstance) you will be given a walking route in the neighborhood with approximately 40 doors to knock on. At each home, you’ll offer to change out the front porch light bulb to a compact fluorescent (CFL) bulb, provide information about reducing energy use, and sign people up for free recycling, free energy audits and low-cost street trees. It’s simple and makes a huge difference for people and the planet.
