Initiative 300
At the March 9th monthly Delegate Meeting, INC hosted an Initiative 300 (Right to Survive) Forum at Brookdale. The scope of the initiative was presented by city attorney, and both sides represented by a proponent and an opponent. (video on denverinc.org) Following the presentations and discussion the INC Board appointed 4 members of the executive committee to determine whether INC should take a position.
Chair Mayl asked committee member Hank Bootz to report on the committees decision. Bootz said that the committee had a difficult discussion, and the only conclusion they could come to was for INC to Not Take A Position.
There was an immediate motion.
(ACTION) It was moved by Lou Raders of Cherry Creek North and seconded by Annette Woodward of Cherry Creek North that INC take a position.
Discussion – several members stated that their RNO had not taken a position and they could not vote to take a position without direction from their neighborhood.
For the Motion 9
Against the Motion 25
Motion fails.
Meeting Adjourned. 8:59am
Denver Decides
Today INC together with the League of Women Voters, Historic Denver and Denver TV8 hosted candidates for Denver Mayor and City Council District 3 to two forums that were filmed for broadcast on Denver Channel 8 in anticipation of the May 9, 2019 election.
