INC Delegate Meeting, April 9th 2016
With a quorum of the board, Lucia Brown was approved as an At-Large board member
Steve, Bibi, Bonita, Ian & John voted in favor, no opposition
It was confirmed that a quorum of delegates was present, as there was worry that concurrent political conventions may have produced too few members to conduct business
Jan Marie Bell of SWIC welcomed INC to the Westwood Community Center and gave a brief history of the building and organization. Gave an overview of development troubles and thanked INC for their work on neighborhood and city issues. Thanked INC for our support of the SWIC food bank.
John Riecke provided a short report on the results of the INC Board presidential election review
JJ reports that INC has strong membership for 2016. He wants INC to follow established decision-making processes and wants to empower other RNOs and teach them about city issues. Would also like to increase lines of communication between/with RNOs and with the city.
Review of the Board of Directors
JJ reviewed unfilled positions and nominated Lucia for At-Large, approved by delegation
Also called for volunteers for communications, budget, and membership chairs
Reiterated that any RNO member may join a committee, as well
JJ would like to provide a directory of members to the membership for the purposes of helping RNOs learn from each other and join forces when appropriate
Concern was raised over making such contact information available publicly. It was suggested to use a PDF. Issue was tabled until a study can be completed and recommendations made.
Review of INC 2015 RNO survey
Survey is important, allows us to determine how we can best serve our membership
Primary concerns of RNOs are traffic & parking, safety, zoning, liquor & marijuana, code violations
Primary ongoing concerns are parking, zoning, homelessness, and crime
Best communications options are emails, then committees, then delegate meetings. Website not as important
JJ would like to do another survey by September
Adrian Brown made a presentation in favor of a new committee to study the expansion of the I-70 corridor
Pointed out deficiencies in the process that was used by CDOT to arrive at the current preferred alternative
Motion to establish the committee passed, 25 in favor, 5 opposed, 4 abstained
March meeting minutes were approved
Presentation by Zoning and Planning committee chairs
Disappointing participation in official communications to the city council regarding short term rentals
Around the City asks for any neighborhood-specific news, events, or other announcements
